APPLIANCES

Q: What should the temperature be for my refrigerator?
A:The fresh food section should be between 32°- 40° F. The freezer side should be no higher than 0° - 5° F

Q:What can i check if my dryer isn't heating properly?
A
: Please check your lint screen and venting from the dryer to the outside. If it's clogged the dryer will not dry clothes properly. The lint screen should be cleaned after each use to prevent this.

Q:Why do my ice cubes smell or taste bad?
A: Impurities in the water, dirty fridge, old ice - these are just a few of the reasons your ice may smell or taste foul.

Q: I just installed my food-waste disposal. Now my dishwasher will not drain, what could be wrong?
A: New disposals have a "plug" in the connection sub for the dishwasher drain hose. This plug must be removed or the dishwasher will not be able to drain into the disposal.

Q:Can a fridge be placed on it's side to be moved?
A: Yes. Lay the fridge down on he opposite side of the tubes coming out of the compressor.

Q:My washer keeps moving around the floor!
A: Most washers have leveling legs. Adjust with a level.

Q:How far off the ground do gas water heaters have to be?
A: Gas water heaters have to be at least 18" off the floor because of combustible fumes and air intake.

Q:Do unused drains dry up and get rough inside?
A: Yes, drain pipes do dry out and get real rough. This may clear up with use.

Q:What is the purpose of a pressure relief valve on a water heater?
A: This is a safety device that will open in case of high pressure or temperature.

Q:How do i remove a toilet seat?
A: Use a seat wrench which has several sizes of square and hex ends.

Q: Our garbage disposal is not working. What is a possible solution?
A: Try your reset button located at the bottom of disposal.

Q: What is a heat-pump?
A: A heat-pump is a hvac-compressor that cools and heats inside.

Q: How often do i need to maintenance my furnace and air conditioner?
A: It is recommend to have a clean and check on each unit once a year.

Q:What is the life expectancy of an air conditioner, furnace, and heat-pump?
A: 10-20 years.

Q: Why does my indoor fan run continuously and never cycle off?
A: Check your thermostat setting and make sure that the fan is set in the auto position.

Q:Should I cover my outdoor air conditioning system in the winter?
A: Yes. A cover should be placed on your unit to keep out debris. If you live in a snowy climate, a cover will also keep ice and snow out of your unit.

 

Q: How often should I perform maintenance on my air conditioner?
A: Air conditioners run better when they receive annual maintenance. Maintenance should be done in the spring, and will help your unit last longer.

Q:What kind of air conditioner maintenance can I do myself?
A: There are a few simple routines that you can follow to help insure that your system runs smoothly:

1) Check the air filter or coil in your until every 3–4 weeks. A dirty filter will strain your system.
2) Keep your outdoor unit free of debris.
3) Ensure that your unit is on level ground.

Q:What is the difference between floodlight and a spotlight?
A: A floodlight will have a broader light pattern, a spotlight will focus on a more narrow area.

Q:Do 4-foot fluorescent fixtures come in different wattage?
A: Yes, the most common are 25-34 and 40 watts bulbs.

Q:Do i need to buy a special bulb for my garage door opener?
A: It's best to use a rough service bulb.
